Managed Care Provides Quality, Affordable Health Care

For the past two years, pro-tax legislators in the General Assembly have talked about raising taxes to cover the extraordinary growth in Medicaid. Such measures have not succeeded, in large part because many lawmakers, including those in the House and Senate leadership, recognize the need to reform the system to ensure that it is viable in the future. Simply raising taxes would do little more than provide a band-aid solution.

Our state would be well advised to address the Medicaid issue sooner rather than later. Already, the system has grown enormously, by 43 percent over a six year period. Reforming the system will require examining what works, what does not work and what might work.
