Kevin Dietrich joined the South Carolina Policy Council in March 2009 as Investigative Reporter.
Prior to joining the Policy Council, Kevin spent nearly 15 years as a journalist, including nearly five years as a business reporter with The State newspaper in Columbia, S.C.. Prior to that, he worked for the Pensacola (Fla.) News Journal, The American Banker, and the Portsmouth (N.H.) Herald. His work has also appeared in a number of other publications, including the Chicago Tribune, Detroit Free Press and Miami Herald.
Kevin was also an account manager for The Adams Group, a Columbia strategic marketing firm, and before that served as a speechwriter for South Carolina Governor Mark Sanford. Kevin also worked for his family’s steel fabrication business in Santa Cruz, Calif., in the mid-1990s, helping him get a better understanding of the issues facing small businesses.
Kevin earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism from the University of Maine, with a concentration in History.
